SHUTE, GREEN NAMED TO ALL-CIAA VOLLEYBALL TEAM

HAMPTON, VA- Two members of the Elizabeth City State University volleyball team have been named to the All-CIAA Volleyball First Team as released by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Kyla Shute makes her first appearance as a First Team honoree while junior outside hitter Whitney Green makes the All-CIAA First Team for the second straight year.

After making the All-Rookie team and earning Second Team honors as a freshman, Corona, CA native Kyla Shute get her first nod as an All-CIAA First Team performer. This season she ranked third amongst the Lady Vikings in kills and doubled as one of ECSU's primary setters, finishing second overall with 181 on the year. She had the second most aces on the team with 45, which ranked 5th over in the CIAA.

Despite having an injury shortened season, junior Whitney Green still made her way on the All-CIAA First team for the second straight year. To date she is second of the team in kills and boasts the second best hitting percentage amongst the Lady Vikings. As a freshman Green, who hails from Greenville, NC, was the CIAA Rookie of the Year and was a member of the 2010 All-CIAA Second Team.

The Lady Vikings (12-10, CIAA 11-5) have secured the #3 seed in the CIAA North entering this weekend's CIAA Volleyball Tournament. Pool play is set to begin on Friday at 9:00am. Matchups and finalized game times are still pending.
