LADY VIKINGS SWEEP VIRGINIA UNION IN THREE SETS

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team picked up their first CIAA Northern Division win of the season in a three set sweep of Virginia Union University, 25-23, 25-11, 25-17, Monday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

In set one the upstart Lady Panthers came out firing to capture an early 10-4 lead. After a time out the Lady Vikings regrouped, going on a 12-4 run and on back-to-back kills by Kyla Shute and Whitney Green took their first lead of the game 16-14. The Lady Panthers kept it close but ECSU held on to win 25-23.

After a see saw battle in set two went to the Lady Vikings 25-11, the home team's service game held the edge with six aces in the final set, including the matches' final point courtesy of Oasis Ellison. ECSU's 14 aces for the match is their highest total since the 15 they had in a sweep of Shaw University on September 16th.

Lia Scott led all players with a match high 10 kills. Virginia Union falls to 4-12 on the year, 4-5 in CIAA play.
