CHOWAN HAWKS HOLD SERVE, TOPS ECSU IN THREE SETS

MURFREESBORO, NC-Chowan University's Tori Lewis totaled match highs of 16 kills and 13 digs as the Hawks defeated Elizabeth City State University in three sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-14) Wednesday night in CIAA volleyball action.

Chowan, the two-time defending conference champions, improves to 12-3 on the year and remains perfect in CIAA play at 8-0.

The Lady Vikings' offense struggle to remain on track throughout the contest, finishing the match with almost as many errors (22) as kills (24). Kyla Shute, Kelsey Smith and Whitney Green all tied at 5 kills each to lead ECSU. The Hawks finished the match with 16 hitting errors versus 36 kills, 33 of which were assisted by Callie Armistead.

ECSU (7-9, CIAA 5-2) will look to capture their first divisional win of the year when they host Virginia Union University on Monday, September 26th at the RL Vaughan Center.
