HAMPTON, VA- Whitney Green and Oasis Ellison were voted to the 2011 All-CIAA Volleyball First Team as released by the CIAA office Tuesday afternoon. The All-CIAA Teams and All-Rookie teams are voted on by the CIAA Volleyball Coaches Association.
Whitney Green, who was last year's CIAA Rookie of the Year, had a solid sophomore campaign leading ECSU in kills with 284 total, 3.16 per set. In the CIAA she was sixth in hitting percentage and fourth overall in kills. Senior Oasis Ellison get her first All-CIAA First Team nod at the Libero position after leading the CIAA in digs with 4.16 per set.
ECSU placed four Lady Vikings on the All-CIAA Second Team; outside hitter Lia Scott, middle hitter/blocker Chelsey Campbell, right side hitter Kyla Shute and utility Morghan Stallings.
Freshman Kyla Shute, who ranked seventh in the league in hitting percentage and tenth in service aces, doubled her honors and was named to the CIAA All-Rookie Team.
The Lady Vikings finished at the #2 seed out of the CIAA Northern Division and will begin play at the 2011 CIAA Volleyball Tournament on Friday at 9:00am vs. Saint Augustine's, 1:00pm vs. Virginia State and 7:00pm vs. Fayetteville State.
