SHUTE, GREEN LEADS ECSU PAST NC WESLEYAN IN FOUR SETS

ELIZABETH CITY, NC-The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team disposed of North Carolina Wesleyan College in four sets (25-23, 16-25, 25-20, 25-20) Thursday evening at the RL Vaughan Center.

ECSU setter Regan Simpson logged a career high 50 assists as Whitney Green and Kyla Shute hit for 17 kills apiece against the Bishops. Lia Scott chipped in with 11 kills while Oasis Ellison went for a season high 34 digs.

The Lady Vikings doubled NC Wesleyan (11-8) in service aces 12-6 while each team finished with a total of 6.0 team blocks. The two teams were most evenly matched in set three of the game on Thursday; 16 team kills for both with 2 errors for the Bishops to 1 for ECSU.

The Lady Vikings took sets one, three and four, avenging a five set rally loss to NC Wesleyan last season in Rocky Mount. The Bishops were paced by 16 kills and 15 digs from Anna Hart and Meredith Smith who finished with 15 kills.
