Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC-The Chowan University Hawks earned a hard fought three set sweep of Elizabeth City State University Friday night in CIAA volleyball action (25-16, 25-21, 28-26).

The match was the season finale for both teams and with the win over the Lady Vikings the Hawks finish the regular season at 23-6 overall and with a perfect 16-0 mark in the CIAA. Karina Monroe finished with a match high 12 kills while Tori Lewis added 11 kills and 23 digs in the victory.

Whitney Green went 10 kills to lead ECSU. The Lady Vikings will enter next week's CIAA Tournament as the # 2 seed out of the Northern Division behind Chowan. In the second set ECSU nearly avoided the three set sweep and appeared to be on their way to tying up the match at a set apiece when they held a 21-16 lead. However after a called timeout by the visitors, the Hawks rallied to score 9 unanswered to take the set 25-21.

The two teams went down to the wire in a tightly contested third set with the Hawks narrowly pulled out in extra points 28-26. Defensively the Hawk's blocking game was on point amassing 10 assisted blocks, a team total of 7.0.
