ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings swept Virginia State University 25-11, 25-18, 25-17 Monday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
The win avenges a divisional loss ECSU suffered at the hands of Virginia State in a 5 set rally back on October 4th in Petersburg, VA.
With the win Lady Vikings secure the second seed in the CIAA North at next weekends' CIAA Volleyball Tournament November 4-6 in Hampton, VA.
Lia Scott led all players with a match high 10 kills in a game that was dictated by the Lady Vikings' defensive play. ECSU totaled 10.0 team blocks led by Kelsey Smith who had 2 solo and 4 assisted blocks in the match.
The Lady Vikings also frustrated the VSU (10-16, 8-7) attack game with 51 digs on the evening. Oasis Ellison finished with 15 while Regan Simpson and Scott chipped in with10 and 9 digs respectively.
The Lady Vikings (16-10, CIAA 12-3) will host their final home game of the year on Friday against Chowan University.
