RICHMOND, VA- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team's service game proved to be too much as the Lady Vikings swept Virginia Union University 25-16, 25-23, 25-15 Tuesday night at Barco-Stevens Hall.
Oasis Ellison served up a season best 5 aces as ECSU racked up 15 aces overall. Ellison also collected her 15th game with a double digit tally in digs with a match high 18 vs. the Lady Panthers. Virginia Union (7-17, CIAA 7-6) was led by a double-double from Aisha Berkley with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Whitney Green finished with 10 kills while Lia Scott chipped in with 8 kills. ECSU dominated the 1hour, 7 minute match outhitting Virginia Union 41-23 in kills. The Lady Panthers showed some resolve in the second set with 11 kills vs. 3 hitting errors but ultimately came up just short, 25-23. The Lady Vikings have now swept their season series with Virginia Union and hold on to second place in the CIAA Northern Division.
ECSU (13-10, 9-3) will hit the road for a Northern Division weekend doubleheader beginning on Friday when they take on Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 6:00pm.
