LADY VIKINGS STOP VIRGINIA STATE IN THREE SETS

ETTRICK, VA- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team improved to 5-0 versus CIAA opponents with a three set sweep of Virginia State University (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) Tuesday night at Daniel Gymnasium.

Whitney Green led the way for the Lady Vikings with a match high 13 kills. Lia Scott added 7 kills versus no hitting errors and 9 digs in the win. The Lady Vikings, who have captured division crowns the last three seasons, now move to 2-0 in the CIAA Northern Division. They are currently riding a five-match winning streak.

Jasmine Davis paced Virginia State with a team high 11 kills as Lady Trojans fall to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the CIAA. As a team VSU had almost as many errors (22) as kills (23) while the Lady Vikings totaled only 11 errors versus 34 kills for the match.

ECSU (6-2, CIAA 5-0) will finish their games with teams from the CIAA Southern Division when they travel to Fayetteville State University this weekend. They will face Livingstone on Saturday, September 18 at 10:00am and will square off against Fayetteville State and Johnson C. Smith at 10:00am and 2:00pm, respectively.
