Final Stats

(HAMPTON, VA) - Elizabeth City State opened its 2010 CIAA Volleyball Championship play with a straight sets win over Livingstone at a game played this morning at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.

Elizabeth City State, the top seed in the Northern Division, defeated Livingstone, the fourth seed in the South, 25-14, 25-9, and 25-9.

Lia Scott led the Lady Vikings with 12 kills and an impressive .550 attack percentage. She also had three aces for ECSU. Jasmin Know had 12 assists for ECSU, All-CIAA performer Cassandra Noe led the team with 14 digs.

For Livingstone, Lashaundra Ferguson had eight kills, while Shannon Allen led the Lady Blue Bears with 11 assists and six digs.

The two teams will continue in pool play later today. Livingstone returns to play immediately with a game against Fayetteville State, who won their first match of the morning. Elizabeth City State returns to the court at 3:00 p.m. to take on Virginia State, who lost their first game in pool play.
