Final Stats

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team avenged their only CIAA loss of last season by handing Fayetteville State University their first conference setback of 2008 with a four set win over the defending CIAA champions (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 27-25) Sunday morning at the annual Volleyball Round-up.

In the tightly contested match Chelsea Amick and Jennifer Hendy paced the Lady Vikings with 12 kills apiece. The win extended the Lady Vikings win streak to five games and they remain undefeated against CIAA teams in 2008.

Chekimbrel Jefferson, the reigning CIAA Player of the Year, led with a game high 20 kills while teammate Samantha Meeks finished with 19 kills. ECSU held an 8-3 advantage in service aces, had three fewer errors than FSU (32-29) yet the Lady Broncos amassed a team total of 57 kills to 47 for the Lady Vikings.
