Final Stats
PETERSBURG, VA- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team earned a season sweep over Virginia State University in a three-game match Thursday night (37-35, 30-21, 30-23) at Daniel Gymnasium.
With the victory, ECSU remains undefeated in the CIAA Eastern Division and retains sole possession of first place. It also gives the Lady Vikings their 9th sweep of the season and marks their 11th win in the last 13 matches played.
After a marathon game one which resulted to a 37-35 advantage for ECSU, the Lady Vikings took control in game two with 11 kills versus 5 hitting errors to 8 and 4 for the Lady Trojans (6-9, CIAA 4-6). Reigning CIAA Player of the Week Eva Johnson led all players with game highs of 14 kills and 10 digs. Christina Hager chipped in with 12 kills while Ashley Tarasoff added 21 assists and 2 service aces in the win.
Crystal Hickman paced Virginia State with 11 kills and 7 digs.
