ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team improved to 11-5 overall defeating non-conference opponent Barton College in a five-game rally match, 31-29, 25-30, 27-30, 30-26 and 15-13 Wednesday night at the R.L. Vaughan Center.

Barton's Melissa Ritter led all scorers with a game high 20 kills as the Lady Bulldogs drop to 1-16 overall.

After ECSU narrowly took game one 31-29, the Lady Bulldogs resurged to take the next two games but ultimately could not shake the stingy Lady Viking defense. As a team, the Lady Vikings totaled a season high 105 digs which helped to extend the match to five games. Freshman setter Jasmin Knox had one of her best outings of the season as the Lady Viking floor general with a team high and career best 30 assists. Fellow rookie Cassie Noe, the team's starting libero, had the second best outing of her career defensively with a team high 25 digs (9/16 vs. Fayetteville State she totaled 26 in 4 games). Offensively Eva Johnson led the Lady Vikings with a season best 19 kills while Ashley Tarasoff and Christina Hager chipped in with 10 kills apiece.
