Final Stats
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings lost their second match this week as they fell to Virginia Union University 30-23, 30-22 and 30-20 Wednesday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
The Lady Panthers improve to 1-1 overall (CIAA 1-0) while Lady Vikings fall to 5-6 (CIAA 3-1).
As for the game Virginia Union was clearly the aggressors as the Lady Panthers pounced early and never looked back. For the match they totaled 44 kills to 28 for ECSU. Michaela Vanakova and Gabriela Mokra paced Virginia Union with 15 kills each while Tanika Hudgins once again led the way for the Lady Vikings with 15 kills of her own. Outside of Hudgins, no other Lady Viking totaled more than four kills however defensively ECSU held the edge with 55 digs and 9 team blocks to 45 digs and 5 team blocks for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Vikings will travel to Durham, NC this weekend to participate in the 2006 CIAA Volleyball Round-Up. At this event CIAA teams will take on their cross division rivals in matches that could very well decide the seeding for the CIAA Tournament in November.
