RICHMOND, VA- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings got their biggest win of the season Thursday night, defeating Virginia Union University in five games (31-33,30-28, 26-30, 30-27 and 15-13) at Barco-Stevens Hall.
The loss gave the Lady Panthers their first divisional loss since 2003 and gave head coach Linda Bell her first victory over Virginia Union since taking over the Lady Viking volleyball program three years ago.
Sophomore Tanika Hudgins led the charge for the Lady Vikings with 22 kills while freshman Eva Johnson contributed 15 kills and 17 digs in the winning effort. Christina Hager added 10 kills and 4 solo blocks and Ashley Tarasoff paced the ECSU offense with 24 assists. The Lady Vikings are now tied with the Lady Panthers for first place in the division as both teams are sporting a 7-1 record in the East.
The Lady Vikings (13-9, CIAA 10-3) will return to action on Monday, October 23rd as they hit the road to take on Saint Paul's College. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
