ECSU VOLLEYBALL ROLLS PAST SAINT PAUL'S

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Viking volleyball team defeated Saint Paul's College in a three-game sweep 30-14, 30-9 and 30-13 Wednesday night at the R. L. Vaughan Center in Elizabeth City, NC.

ECSU proved to be the aggressor from the first serve of the match. At night's end, the Lady Vikings had run the table on the opposition, with 46 kills to only 9 for the Lady Tigers. Additionally, ECSU served up 20 aces with 7 coming from freshman setter Nina Crook. At one point in game two Crook, who finished with a match high 24 assists, served 18 consecutive points.

ECSU was led by junior Tara Blakeney with 11 kills and 2 solo blocks while sophomore Christina Hager contributed 10 kills. Current CIAA Rookie of the Week Tanika Hudgins finished with 9 kills and 3 service aces.

The Lady Vikings (3-0, CIAA 2-0) will be on the road next Thursday, September 13th as they travel to take on Virginia Union University. For more information on ECSU athletics, log onto www.ecsuvikings.com.
