ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Head volleyball coach Linda Bell and freshman outside hitter Tanika Hudgins have received weekly CIAA honors.

Linda Bell, now in her second year the helm of the Lady Viking volleyball program, has been named CIAA Coach of the Week. The Lady Vikings are off to a 2-0 start with wins over the University of the District of Columbia (8/27) and divisional foe Shaw University (8/30). It was Bell's first career victory over the Shaw Lady Bears in her eight year tenure as a CIAA head coach.

Tanika Hudgins garners CIAA Rookie of the Week after leading her team in kills in both of the victories over Shaw and UDC. Her best outing came in the win over the Lady Bears last Tuesday with 13 kills against only one hitting error and a service ace. Over the two-match span, Hudgins finished with 25 kills, 1 assist, 1 service ace, and 15 digs.

The Lady Vikings will return to action against Saint Paul's College Wednesday, September 7 at the R. L. Vaughan Center. Game time is slated for 6:00pm.
