ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Two member of the Elizabeth City State University volleyball team have been named 2005 CIAA Volleyball Second Team Honorable Mentions.
Freshman outside hitter Tanika Hudgins and teammate, middle hitter/blocker Christina Hager have both named to the All-CIAA Second Team as voted by the CIAA Volleyball Coaches Association. Hudgins, a native of Rocky Mount, NC led the Lady Vikings in kills this past season and ranked 8th in the CIAA in digs. She was named the 2005 Rookie of the Year after garnering Rookie of the Week honors three times this season.
Hager, a sophomore accounting major from Angier, NC, led the Lady Vikings in solo blocks, assisted blocks and blocks per game. ECSU has qualified for post season play for the first time since 2001.
The Lady Vikings will begin the quest for the CIAA Volleyball Championship on Friday, November 4th at 9:00am when they match-up against Saint Augustine's College. Later that day at 3:00pm they will take on Virginia Union University and at 5:00pm ECSU will close the day out against Johnson. C. Smith.
