ELIZABETH CITY, NC-The Virginia State University Lady Trojans handed the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings their first home loss of 2005, taking 3 out of four games 30-28, 30-27, 26-30 and 30-25 at the RL Vaughan Center in Elizabeth City, NC.

The Lady Trojans improve to 5-11 overall, 3-2 in the CIAA Eastern Division while the Lady Vikings slip to 7-9 overall, 3-2 in the East. VSU also avenges a 3-1 loss to ECSU on September 28th in Petersburg, VA.

The Lady Trojans came from behind in the first to games to edge the ECSU when in appeared that the Lady Vikings were in control. If the Lady Vikings were looking to keep their home record spotless, they would have to go the distance and force a fifth and deciding game. Down 2-0 the Lady Viking rallied to take game three and would open up a 7-3 lead in game four. The Lady Trojans then went on the offense, finishing the game with 15 kills to10 for ECSU. VSU was paced by Monique Mason who amassed 15 kills and 11 digs. For ECSU Tanika Hudgins and Yuriante? Pendleton each contributed 15 kills with Hudgins adding 25 digs. Senior Kesha Neal had 30 assists while sophomore Leslie Kennedy added a career 32 digs as the teams' libero.

The Lady Vikings will return to action on Thursday, October 6, 2005 as they will travel to Washington, DC to face the University of the District of Columbia. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm. For more information on ECSU athletics, log onto www.ecsuvikings.com.
