Tyrone Glanton returns to the ECSU Football Coaching Staff for the fourth year continuing his position as Special Team Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. 

Glanton is part of the Vikings biggest turn around defensively in all of Division 2, from 2022 to 2023 season. The Code Blue defense went from 36.4PPG given up to 22.0PPG. They cut the total defense down tremendously from 383.3 yards per game to 297.3 yards per game.

Glanton has guided current Punter and Kickoff Specialist, Darius Satterfield, and Kick Returner, Terrance Holland, to CIAA Preseason All-Conference and NCAA Division 2 HBCU All-American Honors. 

Glanton guided two of his players to finish in the top 10 in the CIAA in Tackles Per Game. (LB Tracey White #5, and LB Demorian Smith #6). Also, he guided two of his linebackers to finish top 10 in the CIAA in total Tackles. (LB Tracey White #7, and LB Demorian Smith #8). In his first season in 2022, Glanton coached first team All-
Conference LB Juanya Majette. Majette was #5 in the CIAA conference in total Tackles, and #6 in Tackles Per Game. Majette was selected to the HBCU Legacy Bowl the premiere bowl for all top HBCU Prospects. Before Elizabeth City State, Glanton spent 2 years as the Linebackers Coach, at Virginia Union University. (2020-2022)

First season covid (2020) the conference did not have a season.

In his second season at Virginia Union, Glanton coached Domantay Rhem who was first on the team in tackles and had two interceptions to tie for the lead for the Panthers. Prior to VUU coaching career, Glanton was a three-year starter, two-time CIAA All conference Linebacker at Virginia Union University. Glanton started 30 games in his career at VUU from 2014-2019, finishing total of 156 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 9 sacks. In 2018 Glanton finished #4 in the CIAA in Total Tackles, as a junior he led the panthers in tackles, playing on the number one defense in the CIAA only giving up 18.9 point per game.

Glanton earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from VUU in 2019. Glanton earned his Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Special Education from VUU in 2022.
