Trevin Q. Goodwin enters his first year as the Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations at Elizabeth City State University, bringing more than two decades of experience in collegiate athletic communications and sports information. Throughout his career, Goodwin has developed extensive expertise in media relations, statistical operations, publications, event coverage, and the promotion of student-athletes and athletic programs. Prior to joining ECSU, he served as the Director of Athletic Media Relations at Claflin University, where he led the communications and media relations efforts for the Panthers' NCAA Division II athletic programs.
Before his tenure at Claflin, Goodwin spent 14 years at Winston-Salem State University, including six years as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations. During his time with the Rams, he helped provide media coverage for numerous high-profile events, including WSSU's run to the 2012 NCAA Division II Football National Championship Game and the 2012 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Baseball Tournament. Earlier in his career, Goodwin served in athletic media relations roles at South Carolina State University and Charleston Southern University and also worked as a desk editor for The Times and Democrat in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
A native of Bowman, South Carolina, Goodwin earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Charleston Southern University in 1997. His extensive background across NCAA Division I and Division II athletics has established him as an experienced athletic communications professional with a strong understanding of storytelling, media relations, statistics, publications, and championship-level event coverage. In his current role at ECSU, Goodwin leads the department's media relations efforts while helping enhance the visibility of Viking Athletics and tell the stories of its student-athletes, coaches, and programs.
