Lara Lawrence enters her first year with Elizabeth City State University Athletics as the Athletics & Finance Business Manager, where she oversees the day-to-day financial operations of the department. In her role, Lawrence is responsible for budget management, financial reporting, procurement, reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with university, conference, and NCAA financial policies. She works closely with coaches, senior athletics leadership, and campus partners to support fiscally responsible decision-making across all sports programs.
Lawrence transitioned into her current role after serving as an Accounting Technician Controller within the University Business Department, where she provided financial oversight, managed accounts and reporting functions, and supported institutional financial operations. Her experience in university accounting has allowed her to seamlessly align athletic department finances with broader campus policies and procedures.
Prior to joining ECSU in 2022, Lawrence spent more than 20 years with Hoffler Flow Controls as the company’s Financial Controller. During her tenure, she managed comprehensive financial operations, including budgeting, payroll oversight, audits, forecasting, and internal controls. Her extensive private-sector experience brings a strong foundation in fiscal accountability, efficiency, and long-term financial planning to ECSU Athletics.
Lawrence’s background in both higher education and corporate finance makes her a valuable resource to ECSU Athletics, ensuring sound financial stewardship while supporting the department’s strategic goals.
