Elizabeth City State University Athletics

D’Andre Tolson is a Sport Management student at Elizabeth City State University and a former defensive back and team captain for the Vikings football program. A native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Tolson is a graduate of Northeastern High School and continued his football career in his hometown at ECSU.

Tolson competed for the Vikings during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, appearing in 20 games and recording 38 total tackles, including 31 solo stops, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and 13 pass breakups. Tolson made an immediate impact during the 2024 season, earning CIAA Defensive Back of the Week honors and being named the ECSU Football Team MVP. He later served as a team captain, providing leadership and experience to the Vikings’ defensive unit throughout his collegiate career.

Following the conclusion of his playing career, Tolson transitions into coaching with the Vikings, where he assists Defensive Coordinator Andre George with the defensive backs. In his new role, Tolson brings firsthand playing experience, leadership and knowledge of the secondary to the coaching staff while continuing to pursue his degree in Sport Management at ECSU.
