BOWIE, Md. – The ECSU women's tennis team went 2-2 this past weekend at the CIAA Round-up hosted by Bowie State University.
The Lady Vikings got the weekend started off on a good note as they defeated Livingstone 4-3. Following doubles, ECSU led 1-0 as the NO. 1 duo of
Andrea Nevola and
Juelle St. Clair won 6-4, followed by the No. 2 doubles team of Keely Weber and
Alexis Neathery posted a 6-1 win.
In singles, St. Clair (second singles), Neathery (third singles) and Weber (fourth singles) won their pro set match securing the 4-3 victory for the Vikings.
In the second match on Saturday, Johnson C. Smith cruised to a 7-0 victory.
On Sunday, the Lady Vikings fell to Shaw in the first match 4-0 but rounded nicely as they defeated Winston-Salem State 4-3.
In the afternoon match against the Rams, the doubles duo of Nevola/St. Clair rolled to a 6-0 win while Neathery and Weber at the No. 2 doubles slot won 6-4. In singles play, Nevola (first singles) and Weber (fourth singles) won 8-0 as St. Clair earned the victory form the second slot 8-6.
The Lady Vikings are 2-3 on the season. They return to action on Friday, March 25, as they travel to Barton College for a 2:00 pm showdown.
