SALEM, Va.  – The Elizabeth City State University softball team was knocked out of the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament 9-0 to Winston-Salem State University and 9-0 to Fayetteville State University Monday evening at James Moyer Sports Complex.

The Vikings held the Rams scoreless through the third inning before WSSU added three runs in the bottom of the third inning, taking a 3-0 advantage. Winston-Salem State collected six more runs in the fourth and never looked back as the Rams captured the 9-0 victory.

Alyssa Griffin, D'asya Wilson, Cheyan Brasseur, Sara Philips, and Hailey Ryan collected a hit each during the contest, while Shea Vaccaro took the loss in the circle for the Vikings.  

In game two against FSU, the Broncos recorded its first score of the game in the top of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead, before adding five more runs in the fourth inning. ECSU's Stephanie Komives, Wilson, and Ryan tallied a hit each in the contest, before FSU collected three more runs in the fifth to secure the 9-0 contest.

Elizabeth City State closed out its season 12-18 on the season and secured third seed in the CIAA Championship Tournament for the first time since the 2007 season.
