ELIZABETH CITY, NC-The Elizabeth City State University baseball team opened the season with two non-conference losses (8-3, 10-1) to the Ohio Valley University Scots Saturday afternoon at Northeastern High School.

In game one, the Scots held a 3-0 until Clifton Taylor's one out double and stolen base set up ECSU's first score of the year. Taylor reached home plate after Robert Jacot flew out to center field making the score 3-1.

Weston Dodson then led off the fourth with a solo home run. Taylor, who reached on an error, touched home plate for the second time in the game on an RBI single by Lee Person and by the end of the 4th the Vikings had tied the score a 3 apiece. After a scoreless fifth inning the Scots put the game away with five runs in their half of the sixth and a final score of 8-3.

In game two the Vikings' offense stalled as they managed only two hits and committed two errors in a 10-1 setback. The Scots where ahead 10-0 until ECSUs' lone run came in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Justin Hooker. Ohio Valley tallied two runs in the third, five runs in the fourth and three runs in the sixth on 12 hits.
