MOUNT OLIVE, NC- The #7 Mount Olive College Trojans defeated Elizabeth City State University 15-2 in a non-conference baseball matchup Tuesday afternoon at Scarborough Field.
Mount Olive (8-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Dylan Holton drew a one-out walk and came home on Racobaldo's opposite-field double down the right field line. Alex Vertcnik followed with an rbi-single. The Trojans would go on to score in each of the first seven innings.
Elizabeth City State got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh as the Vikings sent eight batters to the plate. Chris Newcomb's two-out single put runners on first and third and Lee Person drove in ECSU's first run with a single down the right field line. Austin Zehr's infield single brought home a run and Khatim Butler reached on an infield single to load the bases. But Trojan second baseman chased down a foul pop-up behind the first base bag to end the inning.
The Vikings stranded nine runners in the game and committed six errors.
